About Us

We are located 24 miles east of Meeker, on County Road 8. Hunts are conducted from my lodge, where you stay in the warmth of heated rooms, (except drop camps). Hot showers are available plus all the good home cooking you can eat.

I have an excellent drop camp located in the Flat Tops Wilderness Area (Hill Creek).

We use horses and four wheel drive vehicles to get to most of our hunting areas, and also hunt right from the lodge since we are bordered by the forest. We have been hunting and guiding hunters in this area for over thirty years. You can be sure you will get 100% effort from me and my guides to give you the best possible chance for success. The kill percentage that we average has been consistently over 80% for archery elk and over 60% for rifle elk of 4 point or better (Western Count).

We are hunters and love to hunt. I personally have taken 28 elk with a bow and several with a rifle, plus numerous deer.

Archery hunts are for six days. We do a lot of tree stand hunting over major elk crossings and wallows, plus bugling which is probably the most exciting way to hunt. The tree stands are well established and very productive.

Rifle hunts are for 5 full days and done mostly by placing our hunters on known crossings. We make drives pushing the elk past our hunters, in addition to bugling if the elk are still answering, plus still hunting. The areas we hunt have a very high elk population. We hunt hard giving our hunters the best possible chance for success.

Archery season starts in late August and runs through most of September while rifle season starts in October and runs into November.

We encourage our hunters to get in shape since we hunt from 7,500 feet up to 10,500 feet and the better shape you are in the better your chance of success.

We also offer muzzle loader bugle hunts for those that draw a tag and have been 99% successful, 100% in 2006.

For you hunters that like to hunt elk on your own I strongly recommend my drop camp located in the Hill Creek area of the White River.

Fishing and Camera trips are also offered during the summer months. We have wonderful trout fishing and some of the most beautiful country in the West for great pictures. We recommend you try one summer or spring guided trips on horseback, camping overnight, sleeping in tents, enjoying some wonderful outdoor cooking, while catching some of our Cutthroat, Rainbow, and Brook trout. Don't forget your camera, you will be seeing elk, deer, and many other outdoor friends. So, if you like to hunt, fish, or just like the outdoors and are looking for a great place to go for a very reasonable price with better than average success rate with guides that love taking people hunting and fishing, join us in Colorado.

We are able to take a limited number of new hunters each year because we average a very high percent of repeat hunters, so, if you are interested please let me know as soon as possible.

All you lucky hunters that were born after January 1, 1949 are required to have a Hunter Safety Card to purchase a license in Colorado.
