Do I need to apply for an elk tag? In units 23, 24, and, 33 where I
operate you are required to draw for elk and deer tags for the archery season.
Rifle season elk tags must be drawn for the first season for both bulls and
cows. Bull tags can be purchased over the counter for the last 3 regular rifle
seasons, while all cow elk and deer tags have to be drawn. Muzzleloading tags
are all on a draw basis.
How do I put in for a draw? Contact the Colorado Division of Wildlife at 1-303-297-1192 ext 5 (Customer Service) and request the 2008 Big Game Brochure and applications for elk and deer. They will send it to you at no charge. It's important to request the applications early because the deadline to enter the draw for tags is APRIL 1, 2008 MIDNIGHT. WE RECOMMEND YOU APPLY ON LINE AT Colorado Division of Wildlife.
What are my chances of drawing a
tag? Over the
last four years there has been 100% draw for first choice archery elk tags.
Do I need a hunter's safety certificate? If born January 1, 1949 or after,
you are required to have a hunter's safety card.
Can I bring a non-hunter? Often non-hunters can be accommodated, please check at time of booking.
What is your success rate? Archery elk success rate has been consistently over 90% shooting, while success for rifle hunters is above 60%, and muzzleloaders average 99%.
